Julia Child died in her sleep last night. She would have been 92 on Sunday.

Maybe I'll try cooking something French tonight in remembrance. I don't actually like the taste of sherry.

Edited to add: the wife suggested that her dad, who was a big fan, died a week earlier so he could already be waiting in line...

At least she died peacefully and quietly.
Ms. Child lived an amazaing life and is/was a great inspiration to many on so many levels. I will be doing something as well this weekend to celebrate her life and her spirit.
Can you imamging the feasts she will create in the beyond?

Yeah, in 2002 they set up a replica of her kitchen.
I remember watching her PBS show in the early '70s as my mom tried to follow along.

Raising a glass in kitchens around the world this evening I think. Watching her all bustling and happy teaching the art of cooking from that those kitchens on TV, I can't seem to see her any place else.

I'm a little sad...

But death comes to us all and she lived a long full and lovely life, so instead of mourning, I am going to happily celebrate her life, her impact on the world, and her wonderful sense of humor.

Raising a toast this evening with you all.

I heard this on the radio this morning. Made me sad. I have fond memories of watching her cooking show when I was home sick as a kid.

This weekend cooking is not happening. But I too will try to make something special in her honor in the not-too-distant future.

Read her obit today. I had no idea that her involvement in the culinary arts didn't begin until middle age. That, and the fact that we share the same birthday, gives me hope that in about ten years I might actually be able to eventually make something decent^H^H^H^H^H^Hedible :)

Even though I'm not a cook, I always liked her. She was really cool.
